Drinks Spiked Apple Cider Floats
As kiddies, the discovery of adding ice cream to soda rivaled extended bed times, raised allowances AND birthday cake for breakfast. Growing up with floats, it was only a matter of time before they were made even better with an injection of alcohol.
‘Tis the season for apple, and ‘tis the time you tried this sweet, sour and decadent Spiked Apple Cider Float. Your inner child would thank you, but it still can’t pronounce schnapps.
Ingredients
2 cups chilled apple cider
1/4 cinnamon simple syrup (below)
1/4 apple flavored schnapps
2 tablespoons bourbon
6 scoops vanilla ice cream
Cinnamon simple syrup
1/4 cup water
1/4 raw sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cinnamon stick
Optional garnish
Cinnamon sticks
Whipped cream
Graham cracker crumbs
Chocolate sauce
Caramel sauce
Directions
Make your simple syrup first by combing all the ingredients in a saucepan on medium-high heat. Cook until sugar has dissolved, about 3 minutes and remove from heat. Allow to come to room temperature before straining through a fine mesh sieve and refrigerate until ready to use.
Place 3 scoops of ice cream in to two mugs (if you plan on sharing). In a pitcher, combine cider, syrup, schnapps and bourbon and stir until combined. Pour over ice cream and garnish to your tastes. We recommend rimming the glass with graham cracker crumbs, topping with whipped cream and drizzling with chocolate and caramel sauce. Finish it off with a cinnamon stick and skhoff!
The next time you’re feeling like something comforting that’ll bring a flood of good memories back, don’t just reach for that bowl of mac and cheese! You liked floats then, and you’re gonna love them now!
