It’s summertime and you’re looking to get sauced. And we’ve got just the drink for the job.
This is the season of fizzy, fruity drinks and fuzzy afternoons in the sun. Today’s #TuesdayBoozeday cocktail combines the zing of fresh grapefruit with herbaceous gin and rosemary. It was inspired by a mocktail recipe, but we boozed it up. Because it’s not #TuesdayMocktailday or something ridiculous like that.
Why’s it called a liplicker? We thought a name like that might turn you on enough to share it on Facebook.
1 cup grapefruit juice
1 1/2 cup tonic water
2 cups gin
1 cup DIY rosemary simple syrup (or similar)
additional rosemary for garnish
Prepare a batch rosemary simple syrup according to our DIY instructions. (It’s easy, we swear.) Cut one grapefruit into large slices. Mix grapefruit juice and tonic water in a large punch bowl* and add grapefruit slices. Stir in the gin and 1/2 cup of simple syrup — you can adjust later for taste. You can also leave the gin out to add later to individual drinks. Cut the second grapefruit into wedges to use along with the rosemary sprigs for garnishes. Then drop all pretension and serve these suckers in whatever glassware you’ve got. It’s summer!
Be warned: Grapefruit juice hides gin better than a beard hides a weak jawline. Drink responsibly.
