A Rainbow of Homemade Juice

IMG_2329Summer time means taking in more liquids. And when we’ve had enough water to fill a pool, and nearly enough alcohol to threaten poisoning, it’s time to try something as nutritious as it is delicious. Having enjoyed the juice on my juice cleanse so deeply, I decided to make some juice of my own.

Sweet Beet 

1 sweet potato

1 carrot

1 red bell pepper

2 red beets, peeled

2 golden delicious apples

Green Vaccine

1 cucumber

4 celery stalks

2 green apples

6 kale leaves

1/2 lemon, squeezed

1” fresh ginger, peeled

Beta-Carrot-tene

3 carrots

2 apples (your choice)

1” fresh ginger, peeled

Directions: All of these can be easily made in a juicer. If you don’t have one at home, use my method with a food processor.

Step 1: Wash produce

Step 2: Peel and cut what’s necessary (seeds, cores, etc), squeeze lemon

Step 3: Run through a shredding blade

Step 4: Then, use an “S” blade to continue processing

Step 5: Blend until as thin as possible, adding filtered water as necessary

Step 6: Strain through a mesh sieve, or with a cheese cloth

Step 7: Refrigerate or pour over ice

Step 8: Enjoy!

Time to put your feet up, lie back, and sip something that’ll make bikini season more bearable. Just don’t forget about sunblock – SPF 15 doesn’t count.
