Today's craft is all about combining glamour with the mundane by adding some glitz to the lamest things you own.
For example, there's clearly nothing cool about asthma. And, as any sufferer knows, the asthma inhaler isn't exactly the hippest tool to be toting. Sure it could save your life, but it's more likely to cramp your style.
But, if you slap some sparkle on it, you can transform your inhaler (or any other usually boring object) look like a must-have accessory. Forget decorating your cell phone--everyone and their 8-year-old cousin blings out their phones. We're talking about pimping the things that no one else would be clever or crafty enough to think of.
What you need:
- Lame/boring/mildly embarrassing object of choice e.g. asthma inhaler
- Crystals (Swarovski, if you want to roll high)
- Strong glue
- Tweezers, toothpicks or other tools to help you position the gems
Glue the crystals in a beehive pattern onto your object of choice. This ensures that the gems are tightly arranged and eliminates awkward blank spaces. Allow to dry, and you're good to go. It's that simple.
Other suggestions for boring objects to make-over:
- Toilet brush or plunger handle
- Birth control pill case or other pill reminder box
- Soup ladle
- TV remote
- Your ugliest birthday gift ever received from that crazy aunt who always buys you bizarre stuff. You know, the inexplicable Florida Marlins leather baseball cap or the creepy brooch of a harlequin doll? Why not celebrate them by adding some sequins or crystals?
- Bottle of pepper spray
