Bitchin’ Decor For Your Home

Published in Design & Decor
Wednesday, 14 July 2010 12:00

Whether you presently own a home, rent an apartment, or vacate the entire basement level of your parent’s house, guests will always notice if you have cooler stuff than they do.

In fact, there isn’t a better feeling than knowing someone appreciates your amazing taste in home decor. A really good piece can bring together friends and family alike, allowing you at the very least, one conversation topic in which you are highly educated on. Now that we’ve sparked your interest, you need that conversation starter.

That’s where we come in.

Every once in a while The Bitchin’ Lifestyle Crew stumbles upon some really unique products. Some of them are entirely tacky and useless; while others are so awesome we just have to have them. Since we love to share, here is a list, courtesy of Bitchin’ Lifestyle, of cool decor for your home. You can thank us later.

Off the Wall

Published in Design & Decor

Much like fashion, home decor often sees a re-emergence of the old, with a twist.  Painting can be messy, especially when you're using bold color, and traditional wall paper can be hideous. If you want to avoid the mess (and/or the horrible, 90s fads of stencilling and sponge painting) altogether, consider decorative stickers, mural appliqués, and wall art.

illuminant by Kristin Birna Bjarnadottir

This mystical light by Icelandic designer Kristin Birna Bjarnadottir is a sight to behold. It is suspended from the ceiling by fishing line, and appears to float in midair.  Constructed out of reflective material, the Illuminant is lit not from within, but from below by an LED light on the floor. The color of the lamp can be altered by changing the glass filters that are included, in red, violet, blue, and brown.

We love this lamp for its eerie yet calming appearance and inventive design.

Fold-out Furniture

Published in Design & Decor
Friday, 08 May 2009 19:53

We've all heard of fold-out beds, but fold-out entire rooms? Too wicked.

Ilja Oelschlagel, the genius who designed this "Compact Kitchen," will soon be revered by urbanites (and other people crammed into shoebox-sized apartments) everywhere. Imagine being able to transform your teeny studio apartment into a dinner party-ready space, all by folding out some furniture.

Sure, its appearance is pretty Spartan and bland, but throw on a tablecloth, light some candles, serve a great meal, and make use of what might be the most inspired design ever.
