Bagging a lover with this French Toast is as easy as making it. But be forewarned, this treat is so delectable that you may not be able to get rid of whoever it is you're romancing, so cook with caution.

In a big bowl beat the eggs, and add the vanilla, sugar, milk and salt.

Then, slice some bread to desired thickness (about an inch is good) and drown in egg mixture. Fry the toast in butterĀ on medium until golden brown on both sides, about 3-5 minutes per side.

Serve with real maple syrup, fresh berries and toasted walnuts.

Gorgonzola Farfalle Pasta

Cream sauces are my specialty (that, and whipping a stiletto across the room with impeccable aim.) This Gorgonzola sauce with Portabello is one of my best. Let's get cooking.

Heat 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a pan on med heat.

  • Add 2 sliced portabello mushrooms.
  • Add 1 minced clove of garlic, saute for 5-7 minutes.
  • Strain juices and set mushrooms aside. (*We strain the juice because it'll stain the cream sauce a purple-gray... not exactly an appetizing color.)
  • In a saucepan, heat 2 cups of half&half on med heat.
  • Add 1 cup of crumbled Gorgonzola cheese. Stir until it melts, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and delicately spoon in the shrooms, stir 2x, no more! Remember, we don't want to stain the sauce.
  • Boil farfalle al dente in salted water. Coat with cream sauce and lots of portabello chunks.
  • Serve with a robust red wine, like a Pinot Noir.

The Best Mocha Ever

Wednesday, 03 December 2008 18:49

Screw Starbucks or powdered hot chocolate mixes! This recipe teaches you how to make a delicious dark chocolate mocha from scratch. You can use it with coffee or on its own for the best hot chocolate ever.

In a jar throw in your cocoa powder, brown sugar, and milk. Seal the jar and shake vigorously for approx 2-3 minutes, until the liquid is smooth and there are no powdery cocoa balls floating around.

In a small pot add the other cup of milk, the liquid cocoa mixture; stir and warm through on low heat. Make sure you don't boil it.

Now you also want to make some espresso enough for 4 people.

In a drinking bowl, add your espresso and the extra hot cocoa mixture. You can also sprinkle with cocoa powder for decoration.

Schoff with fresh crusty bread or croissants for dipping.

Anxiety-Stricken Chicken Soup

Chop the chicken into pieces. Really hack into it to expose the bones. You might consider picking up some extra chicken bones from the butcher and adding them at this stage for extra flavor. Cover the chicken meat and bones with water in a large pot. Add Parsley and celery leaves. Simmer for 3-4 hours on med-low heat, covered. Strain broth through a cheesecloth to remove all the nasties. Pour clarified broth back into a clean pot (*At this point you've got bona fide chicken stock, so you can either use it all for this soup or save some for other recipes). Add garlic, chopped carrots, celery, potatoes... whatever vegetables you like.

dd choice chicken meat (handpicked from the cheesecloth). Flavor with sea salt & freshly cracked pepper to taste. Simmer until the vegetables are fork tender. Shkoff with parmigiano, crusty bread and valium. Hey, chicken soup can only do so much.
