So maybe you've had a rough week. You're tired and grumpy, and you want nothing more than to curl up in your own self pity watching terrible reruns of The Ghost Whisperer or endless sports highlight reels while eating cheese puffs. While that might seem like the perfect cure for the blues, we've got a better one.
The weekend has arrived, and since it's Oyster Day over here at Bitchin' Lifestyle, we decided to share this incredibly rich, sweet, and flavorful drink recipe. This sangria made with fresh rasperries is a great digestif after a nice meal that was kicked off by oysters.
Feel free to substitute your favorite orange liquer for the Grand Marnier we used, and you can experiment with any kind of tropical juice instead of the apricot nectar we suggest. Go wild! We know you might be inclined to use the crappiest/cheapest wine you can find, but try to use a wine you would enjoy drinking on its own. Good wine is the foundation of a great sangria, after all.
Pour fresh raspberries into a large glass pitcher and crush with a wooden spoon. Add a few cups of ice. Pour in liquer, apricot nectar, lemon juice, and wine. Stir together and top with sparkling water or club soda. Toss in sliced lemons. Feel free to play around with the amounts of all the ingredients to get the right balance of flavours for you. Enjoy!
Wine we used: Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
- Dallas Curow
Did you know that each Raspberry Point oyster takes seven years to grow to shucking size? Me neither. I just looked it up...
This recipe is part of the "Impress the Inlaws" chapter in our Bitchin' Kitchen Cookbook. In this chapter, Nadia G teaches you how to go all out with a fab meal, because the earlier you suck in your in-laws, the better. If you've got a first parental meet-and-greet coming up this weekend, here's a great first course to get started on winning them over.
