I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant about this whole “test out a new nail polish” thing. I have many skills: I’m a fairly good cook, I can rock some liquid eyeliner and, if pressed, I’m pretty sure I can still start a fire with two sticks (thank you, girl guides!). But I have a deep dark secret that I have never shared with anyone until now: I suck at doing my nails.
I’ve hid my shame for years, getting cheap manis in sketchy nail salons, spending late nights prowling online coupon sites for mani-pedi deals and once, I even got a French manicure airbrushed on my nails before a date. They looked awful! Thick almost-two-inch strips of white nearly covered my nails. Not so classy. So I've decided to give this whole 'texture coat' thing a shot and see if I can master the DIY manicure.
Isabel and I decided to dye our hair by ourselves. As in, at home. I know, I know, it might be a disaster waiting to happen… but we live on the edge like that. This week, we both tested out foam hair dyes. Isabel tested Nice 'n Easy Color Blend Foam, while I tested out L’Oreal Paris Sublime Mousse. I’m happy to announce that, luckily, we managed. Neither Isabel nor I are covering up our locks with hats. Thank the hair gods.
Here are our results:
It seems that nail polish strips are all the rage these days, and much like any cool trend, the BK crew just had to test these suckers out.
Are they really that amazing? Do they last a long time? Are they easy to put on? Will they bring world peace? We have the answers.
Any Italian will tell you that they were taught to eat a balanced diet that incorporates all the food groups: pasta, pizza and potatoes. We live in carb-heaven and our blood sugar levels and mid-section pays for it but man, does it taste good! I don’t regret eating all the food my Nonna has ever force-fed me; I only regret passing out afterwards instead of doing some sit-ups or something.
The point is, if you’re going to enjoy each food group equally, you don’t want to spend hours on food prep. If there’s one thing I hate most… it’s peeling potatoes. I always used to get those looks of disappointment from my aunts when they saw that I peeled off about half of each potato along with the skins. Listen, I can’t spend 10 minutes on each potato with a paring knife and the fear of carpel tunnel. I just can’t do it!
So when I saw the infomercial for the EZ Peel Gloves I just KNEW I had to try them.
I would love to sit here and write about how much I enjoyed Zumba the first time I tried it. I did not. Let me tell you why. I have no coordination and if life depended on my ability to follow dance moves, we would all die a fast death.
