Epic Ball Catch Girl
This is a video that was up for a while, generated millions of hits and then was taken down for some reason…and then was recently re-posted.
A ball-girl at a Major League baseball game climbs the wall pro-style to catch a foul ball and basically makes the outfielder look like an amateur chump in the process.
It’s easy to see why people loved the idea of a small child showing-up a professional athlete. From the little girl herself, to the announcers’ comments, to the roar of the crowd, to the players’ reactions, everything seems to make the argument that it’s real…except that Rookie of the Year was only a movie, and things like this don’t happen in real-life.
But we’ll let you be the judge.
The Pen Master
This one makes for a great debate. While the crazy-double-pen-twirling skills this guy possesses seems like they could be fake (and maybe they are) you’ve probably seen someone in either your class or office who can do something similar.
Instead of learning or working they’ve spent countless hours becoming a pen-ninja and that’s fine. Fake or not, it certainly looks real in this video though. It’s what happens at the end that’s questionable.
Watch the video and ask yourself – A) Could any trajectory be this perfect? And B) Could any human be this stupid?
Sunglasses
Here’s a perfect example of it not really mattering whether a video is real or fake, because it’s funny either way and that’s the whole point.
Two guys have put together various clips of one tossing a pair of sunglasses into the air and his friend catching those same sunglasses with his face. The first time they do it is impressive enough, but the scenarios keep getting more and more complicated until they enter the realm of the impossible.
Obviously this video is a fake, but you can tell by the overconfident attitude of the guys who made it, that it wasn’t meant to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes in the first place – just to be fun. Although they probably did realize it looked good enough that people might scratch their heads over it anyways.
Bruce Lee Bear
This may have entered the ranks as one of our favorite viral video of the whole year. If you haven’t seen it, there’s really no set up needed – a bear at a Japanese zoo picks up a log and starts furiously spinning and juggling it as if it were a bo staff and he were Bruce Lee.
This wouldn’t have sparked the fake/real debate except that the bear’s really, really good at it.
We’ve seen arguments made the this was done with special effects or that it’s really just some guy in a bear suit. But if that’s true, then this is the most realistic, cutting-edge, bear suit ever constructed and someone must have gone through a ton of effort to put this video together.
We’ve also seen people swear up and down that the footage was not doctored at all and is totally real – which in some strange way actually seems to make the most sense.
World’s Biggest Slip N’ Slide
Here’s a video that makes you wonder if you’re watching the world’s greatest daredevil in action, or just the work of a computer imaging master.
A brave soul in a wetsuit rides a slip n’ slide down the face of a giant hill and off a jump which rockets him halfway around across a valley where he splashes down in a small, but perfectly placed pool.
Whether this one’s fake or not, you’ve got to admit it certainly looks real, but if you pay close attention there’s certainly a few details that’ll suggest to you whether this is legit or a really great hoax. See if you can pick them out…
